![]() This article argues that, due to the identity norms of a middle power, Japan and South Korea are reluctant to form a bilateral alliance between themselves and their efforts to socialize with China do not necessarily contradict their security relationships with the United States. ![]() How do state identities and their accompanying norms affect security behaviour especially when states consider forming alliances or alignments? Are middle powers different from great powers in their security norms and preferences? This article identifies dependency and activism as two ‘identity norms’ that constitute and reproduce medium-sized states as bona fide middle powers. Rather than demystifying or democratizing Japanese politics, softer programs may simply be perpetuating extant gaps between elites and the public. At the same time, our findings lend credence to previous work that raises concerns about the ‘infotainization’ of Japanese (and US) news programming (e.g., Taniguchi, 2007 Prior, 2005). The direction of the causal arrow is not entirely clear. Conversely, we find that softer news programs (e.g., Fuji TV's Super News) have a depressive effect that appears to decrease knowledge as exposure accumulates. The JESIII results reveal further that, ceteris paribus, regular exposure to NHK contributes to higher levels of knowledge at a rate that is comparable to a one unit increase in educational attainment. Where are extra content saved for dreamplan tv#Where the GLOPE2005 finds an influence of regular newspaper reading, the JESIII indicates that watching a TV news program ‘often’ also boosts knowledge. Regarding the second question, we find that the effects of media exposure on knowledge vary. Evidence of other traits presumed to distinguish the more informed Japanese – dissatisfaction with politics and community mobilization context (living in urban areas, districts with higher voter turnout, and having larger social networks – remains mixed. In this paper, we utilize two recent sources – the Japanese Election Studies III (JESIII) and GLOPE2005 – to address two related questions: (1) what factors influence Japanese political knowledge? and (2) is the changing media environment in Japan having an influence on what citizens know about political affairs? With regard to the first question, we find, in line with previous studies in the US context, that knowledge is explained by education, gender, and politically impinged employment as base factors, with interest, efficacy, and civic duty playing a role as second-stage behavioral factors. ![]() Tracing the process of DPJ government decision-making on the TPP reveals that ‘bringing the party back in’ was a major factor in preventing Japan's formally joining the TPP negotiations, despite the strong pro-TPP sentiments of DPJ prime ministers, thus limiting prospects for agricultural trade liberalization.Ī fundamental component of liberal democracy – citizen knowledge – has only recently been examined in Japan rarer still are assessments of the impact of media consumption on political awareness. However, the potential for a breakthrough on farm trade substantially diminished as the institutional reforms were reversed, allowing political supporters of domestic farm interests once more to assert their voice and influence in trade policymaking. Human artifacts - like SUVs or guns or border fences, for that matter - also feel like intruders in the dust. Like "Bad," her landscapes are sere and blood-red, and places where the mountain ranges are so sharp they seem to cut the sky, the boundless deserts where people go to die - quickly, if they are lucky. "Breaking Bad" co-showrunner Michelle MacLaren (also a producer here) directs the first two episodes where she reasserts that gift for pace and setting. We'll have to decide together whether that springboard arrives (this review is based on the first couple of episodes), but sometimes in television, all's well that begins well, and "Coyote" certainly gets off on the right footing. Instead of the original 10 episodes, the six that drop Thursday left the American/Mexican production team just enough running time to wrap the season and build a springboard for the second. ![]() Now it arrives and (like everything else), it's not quite whole either. Then came the pandemic, which proceeded to upend everything else, leaving "Coyote" - along with the rest of the planet - in limbo. ![]() #Coyote tv show seriesA few things, actually: Paramount decided to dump TV series altogether (other than "Yellowstone'') and pushed this over to sister service CBS All Access. MY SAY Chiklis' much-anticipated return to series TV was supposed to launch on the Paramount Network over the summer, but something happened to the best-laid plans of men and networks in the meantime. Filmed pre-pandemic, mostly in Mexico, this comes from veteran showrunner David Graziano ("Southland," Terra Nova"). Also pregnant, she needs his help - desperately. As Ben gets to meet the locals, he unintentionally becomes entangled with María Elena Flores (Emy Mena), a Salvadoran teen migrant and girlfriend of one of the town's especially ruthless crime bosses. Dark Horse Entertainment’s Mike Richardson and Keith Goldberg are also executive produces along with Rebecca Hobbs of MacLaren Entertainment.WHAT IT'S ABOUT After 32 years as a career officer with the Border Patrol, Ben Clemens (Michael Chiklis) is finally forced to retire, and scarcely before his retirement party has wrapped, he's summoned to Mexico, south of Tijuana, where he has to finish building his old partner's fishing cabin that overlooks the Pacific. Chiklis is also executive producer along with MacLaren, who directs the first two episodes. Graziano is a writer along with Michael Carnes and Josh Gilbert, with all three executive producing. The show is produced by the Paramount Network, with Michelle MacLaren ( Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad) serving as Executive Producer. Now exposed to life on the other side of the wall, Ben will start to question his black and white views of the world, challenging his ideology and his loyalties. It is the story of Ben Clemens, played by Michael Chiklis, who after 32 years as a border patrol agent, is forced to work for the very people he spent his career trying to keep out of America. The Coyote series was sold to CBS All Access TV, which then became Paramount Plus, and is being aired on that streaming service starting January 7, 2021. The show was first announced in May, 2019, but in late 2020, the Paramount Network decided to divest itself of series content and concentrate on full-length movies. It was originally developed by the Paramount Network, and the Viacom-owned cable network originally ordered a 10-episode first season of the one-hour series. #Coyote tv show plusCoyote is a streaming TV show appearing on the Paramount Plus Network. ![]() |
